How it works
EMI divides a fixed-rate loan into equal monthly instalments. Each instalment covers interest on the outstanding balance and repayment of principal. A zero-interest loan is divided equally across the selected months.
Inputs and units
| Input | Example value | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Loan amount | ₹10,00,000.00 | Required unit: ₹. Must be greater than zero. |
| Annual interest rate | 9 % | Enter the percentage as a number: for 15%, enter 15. Use the annual rate. Use a non-negative value. Allowed range: 0–100. |
| Loan tenure | 60 months | Required unit: months. Use a whole number. Must be greater than zero. Allowed range: 1–600. |

Reading the result
Match the rate period to the payment period. Fees and taxes absent from the inputs are not added automatically; compare totals with the same cost coverage.
Compare EMI and total interest together
A lower EMI can be achieved by extending the tenure, but that can increase total interest. The table keeps loan amount and rate fixed so the cost of the longer schedule is visible.
Reducing balance is different from a flat rate
This model charges monthly interest on the remaining principal. A flat rate quoted on the original principal for the whole tenure is a different calculation. Do not enter a flat rate expecting the same repayment figure.
Compare different scenarios
Inputs held constant: Loan amount: 10,00,000 ₹ · Annual interest rate: 9 %.
| Loan tenure | Monthly EMI | Total interest |
|---|---|---|
| 36 months | ₹31,799.73 | ₹1,44,790.38 |
| 60 months | ₹20,758.36 | ₹2,45,501.31 |

Questions and answers
Can I use the example values for my own calculation?
The example values illustrate the calculation. Replace every input with your own information, especially dates, rates and the selected operation.
Does the EMI include processing fees?
No. Fees, insurance and taxes on charges are excluded. Floating-rate resets, daily interest methods and advance EMI arrangements can change a lender’s schedule.
Why are some results rounded?
Results display up to 8 decimal places. Calculations use the unrounded values; very small values use scientific notation. JavaScript floating-point arithmetic can introduce tiny rounding differences.
Are my inputs sent to a server?
The calculator processes inputs in your browser. Its code does not send your values to a server.
